Suggestions for Choosing WHICH WINE IS THIS?™ Starter Editions and Challenges

There are a variety of WHICH WINE IS THIS?™ Starter Editions and individual challenges to meet various levels of wine knowledge and individual preferences. Some editions and challenges are ideally suited for casual wine drinkers and beginners while others are intended for more experienced wine enthusiasts.

Casual wine drinkers, as well as many experienced wine enthusiasts, will find it challenging to distinguish between various types or varietals of red or white wines from around the world. Introductory level challenges are a great starting point.

As their knowledge increases, players will be ready for Intermediate level challenges featuring various types of wines from a single country or region (such as various red wines from Australia, Italy or Napa Valley). Other Intermediate level challenges feature wines from a single grape produced in various regions of the world (such as Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the United States, France, Australia, Chile and other countries).

Finally, Advanced level challenges contain wines of a single grape or type from a single geographic area (such as Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley or Chianti Classico from Tuscany).

Wines featured in Introductory level challenges are usually widely available and tend to be the least expensive. Wines in Intermediate level challenges are generally widely available and tend to range in price from inexpensive to moderately expensive. Wines in Advanced level or special challenges may be more difficult to obtain and tend to range in price from moderate to very expensive.

Audiences – wine novices; casual wine drinkers; groups containing people with varying levels of wine knowledge; most gift giving situations; people wishing to discover their wine preferences or learn the basics of wine.

The MSE00107 – Red & White Wine Basic Edition ($29.95) is ideally suited for all of these audiences. It contains 2 Introductory level challenges (one red; one white) and 2 Intermediate level challenges (one red; one white) to test players as they develop tasting skills and knowledge. Individuals having a strong preference for either red or white wines may prefer RSE00207 – Red Wine Basic Edition ($29.95) or WSE00307 – White Wine Basic Edition ($29.95). These two editions each contain 1 Introductory level and 2 Intermediate level challenges. Any wine enthusiast will enjoy receiving one of these Basic Editions as a gift. Later they can purchase additional individual challenges that match their preferences and skill level.

Audience – wine experts

We believe the Basic Editions of WHICH WINE IS THIS?™ recommended above are also a good starting point even for wine experts. These editions provide a good introduction to WHICH WINE IS THIS?™, but allow knowledgeable wine enthusiasts to quickly expand to more challenging levels. The Basic Editions are great for wine experts who may be playing the game with mixed groups of less knowledgeable individuals. Still some wine experts may prefer to purchase one of the other Starter Editions based on a favorite grape.

Audience – fans of specific types of wines

Generally, these editions feature 1 Intermediate level challenge with inexpensive to moderately priced wines and 1 Advanced level challenge featuring more expensively priced wines.
